Winfield Tales
the people

About Me
As a graduate student in the Public History Program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, I am researching and exploring themes of kinship and home as they have been experienced at the Walnut Valley Festival. While giving a voice to ordinary people, I hope to capture the essence of the festival as a time and a place for fostering, through music, our most fundamental need – the need for human connection.
About the Project
Dedicated to preserving stories from the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas, “Winfield Tales” serves as a platform for sharing recordings of oral history interviews conducted with individuals who have been performing music, jamming with fellow musicians, and taking part in traditions since the earliest years of the festival.
